Standard Alignment

Required

The item clearly and measurably assesses the named standard. Reviewers must be able to identify exactly which skill is being tested.

Cognitive Demand (DOK)

Required

Questions and tasks should target DOK 2-3. Items that only require recall (DOK 1) without text-based reasoning are flagged for revision.

Text Quality

Required

Passages must have an appropriate Lexile range for the grade band, clear authorial purpose, and be free of bias or inappropriate content.

Answer Key / Rubric

Required

All submitted items must include a complete answer key or scoring rubric with exemplar responses before they can be approved.

Lessons must include a clear mastery phase with measurable threshold before the creation/application phase. The toll must be explicit.
